British Gas: effective withdrawal of Fixed Price 2011 capped tariff

Effective date: Friday, August 8th 2008

British Gas effectively ended taking on more customers on its remaining 3 year Fixed Price product due to overwhelming demand. The tariff, which is heavily marketed by the company, was available for just one week.

British Gas' decision follows the overnight decision by E.ON to pull its own 2009 Capped price tariff after being inundated by demand.

The tariff may still be available for a short time from British Gas directly.

We recommend that energy consumers who have now missed the best capped rates sign up to the cheapest deal available, and to keep close track of their energy consumption and any price change announcements. Suppliers may in the coming months reintroduce new capped rates.
